For an example of this, load the instrument INS.squareplink (included in the HivelyTracker package). Play the instrument a few times using the keyboard, notice how it sounds different each time it is played. Now insert the same note in the pattern editor multiple times, notice how when you play-back the pattern each note sounds identical.
Conclusion: it appears that the instrument parameters (filter position, square-relation position etc) are not reset while playing the instrument in free-play.

That's actually pretty cool and organic, when that happens. I haven't heard this specific example, though... I'll check it out. http://syphus.untergrund.net |

Yeah, it does sound cool - but really it should sound the same in free-play as it does on the track. |

I have no idea why that is. If I ever figure it out, i'll fix it :) Probably something is not initialised the same in free-play as it is when a note is encountered in a track. AHX forever! |

I have a slightly similar problem as that in overall mixing volume that really baffles me... Like a single pattern play will be slightly louder (ie the volume I want; the volume of the whole piece) but when that pattern is played during a full song playthrough, it's ever so slightly muted. I'll try to post a better explanation and an example. http://syphus.untergrund.net |
