HivelyTracker doesn't support samples because AHX didn't. I haven't ruled the idea out, i just don't know if i want to do it. So... well... maybe :)

This made me think about the sine waveform request spot made a while ago...and then I started thinking...

Hively instruments that could use use two standard instruments would be fucking wicked for drum sounds - so, like, instrument grouping where one set of patterndata (volume, pitch, etc) triggers two instruments simultaneously, which are mixed at the same stereo point... So you could make wicked drum sounds and yet more impressive synthpad sounds without losing the synthtrack feel of Hively.

Thoughts?

Well its not impossible; the ring modulation already requires an extra oscillator per instrument. Its just... really tricky :)

I imagine it'd play merry hell with gain-value scanning and stuff... See like sample support, that too starts to clash with the whole point of having a cool, 16-ch SYNTH tracker.

Even with just a sinewave, I'd be happy to double-up on my drum channels to get just the right bass or snare or whatever that I wanted - sine would just round off the full complement of waveforms perfectly:D I hereby withdraw my silly multi-ins request and revert to the sinerequest;) Oh, and maybe instrument-specific panning as well!

If Hively could produce as impacting and neat drumsounds as my 6581 r3 can, then I wouldn't even mind that it doesn't have samples. But it would be kinda kewl to sample drums from C64 and use them as samples with Hively.. samples allow certain freedom with drums, u know. Like - really fast snaredrumming that is usually not possible with synth (as a drum-sequence already takes a lot of time to produce, it can't be done so fast that .. agh, you get the idea).

So it would be nice to get sample possibility as well. I mean, whyever not? It wouldn't stop people from making synth-only-tracks, which would be appreciated always of course. But it would add to those who like to toy around with samples - it would expand possibilities. That's one thing that creativity appreciates - expanding possibilities.

Samples are even possible with good old' SID-chip.. so I hope the samples can be added in one form or another (even if it means limiting them to one channel only or something)..

Great tracker anyways!

Oh by the way - is there plans to include SYNCHRONIZATION?

(I mean, there is already ringmod so sync would be only logical next step, right?)
